Cortland Regional Medical Center - Assembly Room

Cortland Prevention Resources, a division of Family Counseling Services, is offering a free training to community members who want to learn how to identify a possible opiate overdose and learn how to use Narcan to prevent the overdose. Narcan is a prescription drug that reverses an opiate overdose by blocking opioid receptors in the brain. It is used exclusively to prevent opiate overdoses. The opiate overdose prevention training and the "blue kits" have been recognized as saving thousands of lives. During the training, there will also be discussion of the Good Samaritan Law and how it applies in this circumstance.

The training will take place on Thursday, May 28 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Assembly Room at Cortland Regional Medical Center. All interested community members are welcome to attend. There is no cost to attend the training but registration is required. We expect this training to fill quickly, so please register early!

You can register by calling (607) 756-8970 or emailing cpr@fcscortland.org. The deadline to register is Tuesday, May 26.

This community-wide event is sponsored by Cortland Prevention Resources, Cortland Area Communities that Care and the Cortland County Health Department. The training will be provided by the Southern Tier Aids Program.
